Writers yearning to become invigorated about their craft are invited to attend Creative Write-Ins, informal sessions hosted by Department of English Adjunct Lecturer Rebecca Cuthbert and held every Thursday at 4 p.m. in the new Writers’ Lounge on the second floor of Fenton Hall.

The hour-long creative writing gatherings are envisioned to make writers feel energized by sharing their projects or goals and then spending the rest of the hour writing, Cuthbert explained, and are open to everyone on campus – faculty, staff and students. The inaugural Creative Write-In was held on Jan. 26 and the events will run throughout the semester.

“The new Writers’ Lounge is a shared, casual space for students and faculty to write, study and socialize,” Department of English Lecturer Daniel Laurie said. The space, formerly known as the Department of Mathematical Sciences’ Fishbowl, has been reinvigorated with fresh paint, decor and furniture.

“The aim for the lounge is to provide a unique interactive space within the English department for students to work with easy access to their professors,” Mr. Laurie added.
