Representatives from Pegula Sports + Entertainment, whose properties include professional sports franchises in Buffalo, will discuss internship and career opportunities with Fredonia students in the Career Development Office Employer Spotlight series on Monday, Feb. 7, at 4:30 p.m., in McEwen Hall Room G-26.

“This is a great way for students to understand the ins and outs of the Pegula organization, especially the business side many don’t think about.” -  CDO Internship Coordinator and Career Counselor Jennifer Wilkins

The in-person session, “Careers in the Sports Industry with the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, PSE and More,” is open to Fredonia students, regardless of major or class year, as well as alumni who are interested in sports-related careers. Information about careers and internships as well as a broad look at careers in the professional sports industry will be provided in the CDO’s first employer showcase of the spring semester.

“Our goal is to connect with students and discuss the many facets that encompass the Pegula-owned entities,” said Erin Fierle, director of human relations. “We want the students to understand the business behind the sport, in addition to sharing potential opportunities now and in the future that may be a fit for this student population.”

PSE representatives – all Fredonia alumni – who will meet students include Kyle Georger, manager of corporate partnerships; Michelle Schrum, a human relations generalist, and Ms. Fierle.

“All of us will share our background into how we got involved in the sports and entertainment industry. We want to talk about our personal roles and responsibilities within the organization. Finally, we will review where to look for jobs/opportunities and share the current positions available,” Fierle explained, and also discuss the timing of internship opportunities.

“This is a great way for students to understand the ins and outs of the Pegula organization, especially the business side many don’t think about,” added Jennifer Wilkins, internship coordinator and career counselor in the Career Development Office.
