Second-place finish & personal bests at Westminster

Fredonia women recorded several personal-bests Saturday at the Westminster Invitational outdoor track and field meet.

Among the new marks was a second-place finish by Ayana Bursie in the 100-meter dash. Her new personal mark is 12.74 seconds, a reduction of .46 seconds.

Also a second-place finisher Saturday was Cassie Serafin, with a 11.36-meter triple jump (37 feet, 3 1/4 inches).

Emily Fish had perhaps the largest improvement of any of the Blue Devils. Her sixth-place time of 2:26.29 was 19.10 seconds faster than she had gone before.

Fish's teammate, Hannah Kurbs, lowered her 800-meter time by 2.02 seconds and finished eighth in the 1,500 meters.

Emily Maguire had a 3.46-second personal-best in the 400 meters, Morgan Ashton had a 2.06-second PR in the 400-meter hurdles, and Macy Brooks equalled her personal-best in the 200 meters.

Fredonia's 4-by-400 meter relay quartet of Ashton, Maguire, Fish, and Stephanie Wojnowski finished fourth in 4:22.10.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.

After qualifying for the finals on Friday, Cara Pellechia finished fourth in the 100m dash, and also turned in a fifth-place finish in the 200m for the top two finishes for the Fredonia State women's track and field team.
