SUNYAC names Alli Coon as lacrosse Athlete of the Week

Starting off the Athletes of the Week in Women's Lacrosse for the 2019 season, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Fredonia sophomore Alli Coon (Livonia) and Oswego junior Elianna Sanchez (Queens).

Helping Fredonia get their first win of the 2019 season, Coon earns herself Offensive Athlete of the Week. On Sunday, March 3 in their home game against SUNY Poly, Coon recorded 13 points, which included 7 goals and 6 assists. Coon found the back of the net three times and added an assist during an early second half run that turned a 13-12 Fredonia deficit into a 19-13 lead. 

In her first collegiate start, Elianna Sanchez earns herself Defensive Athlete of the Week. Sanchez topped off her debut performance with a career-high of 24 saves. Her 24 saves against Clarkson University on Friday, March 1 was the second-highest amount of saves in program history. The junior recorded a save percentage of .632.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.

After qualifying for the finals on Friday, Cara Pellechia finished fourth in the 100m dash, and also turned in a fifth-place finish in the 200m for the top two finishes for the Fredonia State women's track and field team.
