Everything you need to know about OSCAR will be front-and-center at open houses in Reed Library.
All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the OSCAR (Office of Student Creative Activity and Research) sessions in Reed Library on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 6 p.m., and Thursday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Learn why undergraduate research and creative activity are important, what kinds of research and creative work are happening on campus and how to become involved.
Information about opportunities for funding support for undergraduate research/creative projects and student travel to professional events will be furnished. Examples of student projects in research and creativity from the 2025 OSCAR Expo will also be available. Students can learn how to get involved in research and creative projects. Faculty can find out how they can support emerging researchers, artists and thought leaders.
There will also be food, games and prizes awarded.
The OSCAR hub, where the open houses will be held, is located on the library's main floor, across from the circulation desk.
Each year, the OSCAR expo features presentations, performances, FREDxTalks, art exhibits and film screenings in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, as a highlight of every spring semester.
The mission of OSCAR, housed in the Division of Academic Affairs, is to promote and provide students with a variety of research, scholarly and creative opportunities across all academic disciplines. Funding support for OSCAR open house is provided by a Faculty Student Association Program Grant.
