Baker, Carlson win pair of events

Will Baker (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) won the 100- and 200-yard freestyles when the Fredonia men's swimming and diving team took on Geneseo on Saturday. Swimmers Graham Jones (Buffalo/Kenmore East) and Adam Clouthier (Fairport/Fairport) claimed individual events, and Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) won both the 1- and 3-meter boards.

Baker touched first in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 48.75, and the 200 free in a time of 1:48.23.

Carlson's score for the 3-meter diving was 312.80. Off the 1-meter board, he posted 278.70.

Jones won the 100-yard freestyle in 10:10.53. Clouthier won the 100-yard breast stroke in 1:02.69. Jake Favret (Watertown/Watertown) was second to Clouthier, a half-second off the pace.

Geneseo won the team scoring, 162-129.

The Devils return home next weekend when they play host to Alfred University at 6 p.m. on Nov. 13.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.
