Bartlett wins SUNYAC diving championship

For the second year in a row, Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) won the conference championship in the women's 3-meter dive on the final day of SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Her first-place score of 489.30 was accompanied by Samantha Kowalewski's (Cowlesville/Attica) third place finish of 465.85. Julie Coomer (East Aurora/Iroquois) finished seventh at 376.00.

Danielle Dembrow (Lockport/Lockport) was the top finisher for the swimmers, taking second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.22. Adam Clouthier (Fairport/Fairport) was third in the men's breaststroke at 2:07.53, and Jake Favret (Watertown/Watertown) was sixth at 2:12.42.

Other swimmers making the finals were Will Baker (East Amherst/Williamsville North) who took fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (46.52), Troy Lubanski (Leicester/York) taking sixth in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.77), and Bill Bradley (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) taking eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.70).

Swimming in Saturday's consolation finals, Nathan Link (Grand Island/Grand Island) finished 12th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.80), Liam Jones (Buffalo/Kenmore East) was 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (48.35), Lauren Goeing (Clarence/Clarence) finished ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.26), Sam Rokos was 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (54.65), and Caroline Bilotti (Spring Lake, N.J./Manasquan) was 16th in the 200-yard butterfly.

Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) was named men's diver of the meet.

On April 25, Dods Hall on the campus of SUNY Fredonia was home to the annual Dunkirk-Fredonia Unified Basketball Game. In front of a raucous crowd, the two teams battled it out for four quarters.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.
