Bauman a triple winner

Alyson Baumann (North Tonawanda/Niagara Wheatfield) was a triple winner for the Fredonia women's swimming and diving team on Saturday. The squad competed in a tri-meet at the University of Rochester. Alfred University was the third team.

Baumann claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:33.14 and the 200-yard IM in 2:23.27. She was in the 200-yard freestyle relay team that won in 1:48.63. Chelsea Spiegel (Spencerport/Spencerport), Sam Angrignon (East Aurora/Iroquois), and Taylor Chwalinski (West Seneca/West Seneca West) made up the winning team.

Ashleigh Reinhardt (Liverpool, N.Y. /Liverpool) was second off the 3-meter board with a score of 195.90, just 3.1 points out of first. She was third off the 1-meter board with a mark of 173.75.

Sierra Parsons was second in the 200-yard breast stroke in a time of 2:54.62. Chwalinski was second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 2:54.61.

Fredonia has its first home meet of the season next weekend when they play host to Nazareth.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
