In the most outstanding men's diving performance in the history of the conference, Fredonia's Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) set a new SUNYAC record in the 3-meter dive on the first day of SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Winning the team's first title of the meet, Carlson's score of 588.30 surpassed the previous conference record of 576.35, which had stood since 2008. The score also gave Carlson his second school record, after breaking the 1-meter mark at Trinity University (Texas) earlier this month.

Carlson finished one place ahead of Geneseo's Samuel Randall, who scored a 577.70.

Rafael Santiago (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) took fourth in the event with a score of 513.75. Phil Tubbs (Jamestown/Jamestown) finished in seventh at 445.65, while Jacob Storms (Owego/Owego) was ninth at 424.40.

Day two of SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships starts at 10 a.m. Thursday morning with swimming preliminaries, followed by preliminaries for the women's 1-meter dive at 12 p.m. Thursday's finals take place at 5:30 p.m.
