Cheatham earns national recognition

Fredonia senior women's basketball player Alexis Cheatham (Lockport/Lockport) earned a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week after averaging 24.7 points for the week as the Devils went 2-1. She nailed 19 three pointers, including 10 in a 109-61 victory over Allegheny. The 109 points by the team were the most in school history.

Cheatham is the first Devil to earn the honor since Sabrina Macaulay did so in Week 6 of last season.

Cheatham is the Devils' all-time three point leader (249) and has 80 this year, also a school record. She leads the conference in scoring (16.4), assists (4.0) and has earned the SUNYAC Player of the Week Award three times.

Cheatham added 18 points in a loss at New Paltz, and put up 21 in a win over Oneonta. She was 19 of 35 (54 percent) from three-point land, nine for nine from the line, had 15 assists and five steals.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.
