De-Stress for Success events slated for Dec. 12 through 16

De-Stress for Success, a series of activities and study aids, is sponsored by the Student Counseling Center, Reed Library, Student Affairs, Student Health Center, Residence Life, Campus Life and Spectrum. Dance, meet furry friends, eat healthy, relax or craft for a study break.

Quiet study areas are also established in Reed Library and the Williams Center, and the popular Exam Study Break is slated for Dec. 13.

The series includes:

Zumba

Tuesday, Dec. 13 • 11 a.m. – noon • Williams Center Room S204D. Dance away stress with a free Zumba class.

Paws to Relax

Monday, Dec. 12 • noon – 1 p.m. • Reed Library Lobby. Pet and play with certified therapy dogs.

Calm Down and Warm Up

Wednesday, Dec. 14 and Thursday, Dec. 15 • 11 a.m. – noon • Reed Library Lobby. Relax with free cocoa and hand warmers.

Healthy Bites

Monday, Dec. 5 – Friday, Dec. 16. The Student Health Center in LoGrasso Hall will be offering free healthy snacks.

Yoga

Monday, Dec. 12 • 11 a.m. – noon • Williams Center Room S204E. Free yoga class, learn how to stretch away the stress. Mats will be available or you can bring your own.

Relaxation Kits

Monday, Dec. 5 – Friday, Dec. 16. The Student Health Center in LoGrasso Hall will be offering free relaxation kits.

Gotta Study S’more

Monday, Dec. 14 and Tuesday, Dec. 15 • 1 to 2 p.m. • Reed Library Lobby. Take a break from your studies and grab a free s’more kit.

Color me Calm

Monday, Dec. 5 – Friday, Dec. 16. The Counseling Center in LoGrasso Hall will be offering free coloring kits.

Soup-er De-stressor

Monday, Dec. 5 – Friday, Dec. 16. The Student Health Center will be offering free cup of soup packets.

Stress Free Zone

Monday, Dec. 5 –Thursday, Dec. 15 • Reed Library Lobby • Take a timeout from your hectic schedule and relax with various stress relieving activities including: coloring, crafts, and games.

Quiet Study Areas

Reed Library has extended hours from Sunday, Dec. 5 - Thursday, Dec. 15. During this time, the Reed Library Classroom (1st Floor, Carnahan Jackson Center) will be available for quiet study in addition to the everyday quiet study areas on the second and third floors of the Carnahan Jackson Center. The Williams Center has designated quiet study areas: Monday, Dec. 12 – Thursday, Dec. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., and Friday, Dec. 16, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. • Williams Center Rooms: G103C and the Multipurpose Room.

Artists donate items to raffle to support student medical mission to Honduras

A raffle, featuring items by well-known Fredonia area artists, will be held to raise money to support a student study abroad mission to Honduras. Students enrolled in the 2019 J-term course, Honduras Health Care, taught by Dr. Ted Lee, will conduct medical brigades and do service work at day-long clinics set up in schools or community centers in small rural communities.

Fredonia to host Safe Halloween for area children

The annual Safe Halloween, an event for local children and their parents/guardians, will be held at Fredonia on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon in Mason Hall. Guests are invited to come dressed up and ready for trick-or-treating. Every child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Actress and alumna Mary McDonnell to return to Fredonia on Homecoming Weekend

Fredonia will welcome two-time Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe-nominated actress Mary McDonnell, Fredonia Class of '74, back to campus. She will join Department of Theatre and Dance Associate Professor Jessica Hillman-McCord at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Robert W. Marvel Theatre for “An Afternoon with Mary McDonnell,” in what promises to be a lively and informal conversation about the actress’ life and career on the Broadway stage, in film and in television.
