Junior first baseman Katelyn Dennis (Webster) and freshman pitcher Sam Seegar (North Tonawanda) were recognized Monday by SUNYAC for their softball exploits last weekend.
Dennis was named SUNYAC Softball Athlete of the Week after batting .462 in four games while Seegar was chosen SUNYAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after posting an 1-0 record and 0.00 earned run average in two relief appearances.
The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.
For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
Riding the steady right arm of senior Emily Chelius, the Fredonia State softball team claimed a 6-2 win in Game 1 of its doubleheader at Buffalo State and qualified for the SUNYAC Tournament.
