Fredonia women's soccer pitched its second shutout in as many days Saturday, a 1-0 victory over Mount Union for the championship of the 2016 Blue Devil/Clarion Hotel Classic.

Sophomore goalkeeper and Classic MVP Kendall Owczarzak (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) made six saves less than 24 hours after making 13 saves in a 1-0 win Friday over Baldwin Wallace. The Blue Devils improved to 2-2-0.

Senior forward Maria Gordon (Stephentown/Berlin) scored Saturday's only goal in the 20th minute. After a corner kick by senior Sarah Lindovski (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker), the ball deflected off the shin to senior midfielder Kaleigh Creeden (Rock Tavern/Washingtonville). Junior defender Audrey Yokopovich (Webster/Webster Thomas) took a hard shot from short range off Mount Union goalkeeper Claudia Boryka, and then off the right post. The rebound went to Gordon and her short shot from straight on found the back of the net.

It was Gordon's first goal of the season, her fourth as a Blue Devil.

Gordon, Creeden, and Lindovski joined Owczarzak on the all-tournament team. Carolyn Balzano, Taylor Lanese, and Maria DeFranco were Mount Union's all-tourney selections. Other selections were Kelly Gough and Anna Poptic of Baldwin Wallace, and Mary Morrison and Chloe Lonergan of Oswego State. Those two teams played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie in Saturday's other game.
