The Fredonia women's volleyball team defeated R.I.T., 3-2, and Buffalo State, 3-1, on the second day of the Blue Devil Invitational in Dods Hall on Saturday.

Against R.I.T., Kristen Stanek had 16 kills and Saverina Chicka added 10. Hallie Christopher had 38 assists.

Rachel Aiello had 18 digs, while Jane Garrity had five blocks.

The Devils won the second, third and fifth sets, taking the final one by a 15-12 score.

Against the Bengals in a rare non-conference match against a SUNYAC opponent, Stanek and Chicka again led the offense with 11 and 7 kills, respectively. Aiello and Garrity also had seven kills apiece.

Amanda Mosack had 20 assists, while Christopher added 19.

Natalie Berrafato had 21 digs and Garrity had three blocks.

Buffalo State took the first set, 25-21. Fredonia won the next three, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-17.

Named to the All-Tournament Team were Chicka and Stanek. Chicka had a .349 hitting percentage with 28 kills over the weekend. Stanek led the Devils with 45 kills.

The Devils improve to 13-7. Next weekend is SUNYAC Pool Play in Oswego, where they will face Buffalo State, Cortland and Oneonta.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.
