EAP rolls out wellness activities for the spring semester

A varied lineup of wellness opportunities – from healthy cooking and fitness classes to Zumba and book club discussions – awaits faculty and staff during the spring semester, courtesy of Fredonia’s Employee Assistance Program.

• Healthy cooking demonstrations will be conducted on Thursdays, Feb. 4, March 3 and April 7 at noon in Horizon Room W.

• Zumba dance lessons with Paul Mockovak will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at noon in the Dods Hall gymnasium, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 20.

• Group fitness activities will be staged on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. in the Blue Devils Fitness Center, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 26. (A Fitness Center membership is required.)

• The book club will convene at noon on Thursdays, Jan. 28, Feb. 11, March 10 and 31, and April 14 and 28, in the Tower Lounge at Reed Library. Faculty/staff interested need to sign up by getting in touch with EAP Coordinator Susan Murphy, as there are a limited number of books available for the group.

The Path to Wellness Series will be held in Williams Center Room G103B at noon. Individual session dates, presenters and topics include: Jan. 21 – Terri Helwig, “Living a Healthy Lifestyle/Hectic Life”; Feb. 18 – Lisa Schmidtfrerick Miller, “Heart Health”; March 17 – Chris Taverna, “Birth Order and Roles in the Family”; and April 21 – Jeanne Frerichs, “The 411 on Food and Buying Local.”

All activities, sponsored by EAP, the Faculty Student Association and Department of Exercise Science, are free to faculty and staff.
