Weekly surveillance testing begins on campus

The State University of New York at Fredonia on Friday began large-scale weekly testing of students at a testing site established in Steele Hall.

Food pantry set up to benefit students

A food pantry has been established by the Student Health Center, Counseling Center and Office of Campus Life to assist students when food becomes scarce. “We have seen an overwhelming response with our previous food pantries, with over 2,500 food items being given out to students,” reported Debbie Dibble, Student Health Center director.

Students, faculty and staff asked to take Alana’s Foundation flu vaccination survey; urged to get flu shots

The Student Health Center has joined Alana's Foundation to get the word out about the importance of flu vaccinations. The challenge is to see how many members of the campus (students, faculty and staff) respond to a flu vaccination survey. “While we participate in this challenge, we would also like to encourage all members of the campus community to get their flu shot,” said Deborah Dibble, director of the Student Health Center. Although the Student Health Center has gone through its supply of seasonal flu vaccine for this season, students, faculty and staff are still able to get the flu shot at any of the local pharmacies.

A wide assortment of wellness activities and events for the fall semester has been assembled by the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for Fredonia faculty, staff and retirees.

Employee Zumba, yoga classes resume

The start of the fall semester at Fredonia also signals the return of twice-weekly employee Zumba and yoga classes offered by Fredonia’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The full EAP schedule, including dates and other details for the book club, healthy cooking demonstrations, Fall Soup & Salad Day and Path to Wellness Series, will be announced at a later date.

Confidential HIV testing set on World AIDS Day, Dec. 1

The Student Health Center, with support from FredAssist and STEPS, will offer confidential HIV testing for students on World AIDS Day, which is Friday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at LoGrasso Hall.
