Alexis Cheatham (Lockport/Lockport) had a record night and the Fredonia women's basketball team used a barrage of early three-point baskets to take a commanding lead and cruised to a 109-61 victory over Allegheny College on Monday. Cheatham set a school single-game mark with 10 threes, which also gave her 71 for the season, breaking her mark of 69 set last year. Jamie Curry (Ransomville/Wilson) added a trio of threes, as the team combined to go 15 of 25 from downtown.

Cheatham and Curry combined to make good on 10 their first 11 attempts.

The 109 points is also the highest output on record going back to the 1982-83 season. The Devils also reached 100 points earlier this season, with an Opening Day 100-83 defeat of Penn State Behrend.

Cheatham finished with a career-high 35 points. Her 10 threes are second-most nationally this year -- three players have connected on 11 so far this season. Cheatham also moves up to fourth on the all-time Blue Devil scoring list with 1,247, four behind Shelly Giardini (1995).

Curry finished with 11 points and Jenna Einink (Westfield, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake) added 14 in addition to three blocked shots. Off the bench, Alisha Szumigala (Forestville/Forestville) had seven points and 10 rebounds.

The Gators (3-16) were led by Kierstan Librizzi with 11 points.

The Devils (15-5) scored a season-best 32 points in the first quarter, and led 32-17. At the break they led 56-33. Cheatham was seven for seven in threes at the turn, and had 22 points. Fredonia nailed 10 of 13 three-point attempts in the half.

It was also the third-straight game the Devils reached double-digits in threes.

This weekend the Blue Devils travel to New Paltz and Oneonta to continue SUNYAC play.
