Fredonia takes SUNYAC title for hockey

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Fredonia State completed the road trifecta Saturday to claim its first SUNYAC hockey championship in 12 years. The Blue Devils (14-8-6) defeated Plattsburgh, 6-4, before a Stafford Arena crowd of 2,874 to finish off a SUNYAC playoff run which included road wins at Buffalo State and Oswego. "I'm just so happy for the players," Blue Devil head coach Jeff Meredith said during the post-game on-ice celebration by his team. "I'm so proud of them. They've had to deal with adversity and they were rewarded for it." The victory earned Fredonia State its first SUNYAC title since winning back-to-back crowns in 1994 and 1995.

MIDDLEBURY, VT -- The Blue Devils lost in the first round NCAA Division III quarterfinals when they went up against Middlebury College Wednesday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in VT. The team ended its exciting season at 15-10-4.

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.
