Academic Affairs Forum: noon to 2 p.m., S104 Williams Center. Open to all. An informal conversation about issues and ideas in Academic Affairs and SUNY Fredonia.

Homecoming Registration and Ticket Pick Up: 1 to 8 p.m., Alumni House, 286 Central Avenue. Parking in two-tiered lot, right of stop sign.

Mathematics Guest Speaker David Bristol will discuss statistics and drug development: 4 p.m., Rm. 168 Fenton Hall.  Dr. David Bristol, Fredonia alumnus and biostatistics consultant, will speak on "The Role of the Statistician in Drug Development." The topic stems from the scrutiny that regulatory authorities pay to the conduct and result of statistical analyses. Dr. Bristol will review the drug approval process and discuss general issues associated with designing a drug study and analyzing data, including examples from various therapeutic areas.

Men's soccer vs. Oswego: 4 p.m., University Stadium.

Blue Devil Invitational Women's Volleyball: begins at 4 p.m., Dods Hall gymnasium. Teams include SUNY Fredonia, University of Rochester, SUNY Oneonta, Penn State Behrend, Mount St. Joseph. Fredonia plays at 4 p.m. vs. University of Rochester and at 6 p.m. vs. Oneonta.

Homecoming Pep Rally: 5 p.m., Williams Center. Theme: "Fredonia Goes Back to the 1960s."  Crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.

Homecoming Student Barbecue: 7 to 9 p.m., outside the Williams Center. Live entertainment. Free to all students.

Alumni Jazz Concert: 8 p.m., Rosch Recital Hall. Featuring members of the Fredonia Jazz Ensemble from the 1970s. Free. All welcome.

Cancer Awareness Weekend slated for Sept. 8 and 9

The third annual Fredonia Soccer Cancer Awareness Weekend is Sept. 8 and Sept. 9 at University Stadium, also the weekend of the annual Blue Devil Classic. Admission fees will be collected both days and will be added to the proceeds to benefit Team Roswell, the fundraising arm of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.

Welcome Week rolls out red carpet to students; Activities Night on Wednesday

What do an ice cream, a popular 3D computer-animated musical fantasy film from Walt Disney Pictures and a block party have in common? They were among a variety of attractions offered during Welcome Week, a popular Fredonia tradition hosted by Spectrum Entertainment Board and sponsored by the Student Association that welcomes students to a new academic year. All events, held during the first week of classes, were free to Fredonia students.

Technology incubator to host reception for North Shore Arts Alliance exhibition

An opening reception for a new art exhibition that showcases America’s national parks, exotic beaches and world destinations – as well as local landscapes – will be held at the Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk, on Wednesday, June 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. The incubator’s inaugural summer exhibition will present approximately 50 paintings, photographs and works of art on paper by 11 members of the North Shore Arts Alliance.
