Ice skating classes to begin

A new round of public ice skating classes will begin during the first week of October at Steele Hall Ice Arena.

The first session, held on Sundays at 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., will begin Oct. 2. The cost for the 10-week session is $90. A bonus recital is held at the conclusion of the program.

The Figure Skating Club will meet on Sundays, also beginning on Oct. 2, from 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. The enrollment fee is $110. A second session will follow in January 2017 and continue through March.

Members of the campus ice skating club serve as assistant coaches and also perform in the Holiday Ice Show.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
