Kowalewski, Bartlett take the boards

Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) and Sam Kowalewski (Cowlesville/Attica) combined to sweep both diving events at Cortland on Feb. 4. Kowalewski (272.25) won the 3-meter board, edging Bartlett by 2.15 points.

Off the 1-meter board, Bartlett finished with a 296.95 to Kowalewski's runner-up score of 257.20.

Single winners included Chelsea Spiegel (Spencerport/Spencerport) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:50.07) and Maddie Miller (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.19).

Samantha Angrignon (Marilla/Iroquois) was credited with second place in both events.

Alyson Baumann (North Tonawanda/Niagara Wheatfield) was the only other event winner, taking the 200 IM in 2:26.22.

Cortland won the team score, 168-116.

The Devils return to the pool on Feb. 15 for the SUNYAC Championships in Buffalo.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.
