The AED (automated external defibrillator) Program at SUNY Fredonia is moving forward. Over one hundred AED units (including mobile ones) have been installed and placed strategically throughout the university community.

The AED Program Committee, in conjunction with the office Environmental Health and Safety, has been busy arranging training dates for CPR/ AED instruction. The instruction takes only two hours and must be renewed annually in a convenient desktop application or DVD format application. Those in the campus community who previously expressed an interest in the training will be contacted as to training dates and times by Environmental Health and Safety. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to take the training. For those who are interested in the training but have not sent an e-mail, they are urged to do so to Environmental Health and Safety at Julie.Bartlett@fredonia.edu with the subject line “AED training.”

Additional training “blitzes” will be offered during the Semester Break and throughout the Spring 2008 semester.

Want to become a SUNY Lifesaver Instructor? The campus is looking for university community members who are able to conduct at least three two-hour classes per semester. Those interested will need to obtain permission from their supervisor before signing up to participate. Those interested should e-mail Ms. Bartlett via email with “SUNY Lifesaver Instructor” in the subject line.

AED training is fast and simple. Anyone can do it. Members of the campus community are urged to take the time to learn CPR/AED and become part of a vibrant lifesaving team.
