Marion Fellowship recipients to give artistic presentations

Eve Beglarian, Lynn Neuman and Joshua Davis -  2015-2016 recipients of Cathy and Jesse Marion International Fellowship awards -  will give their artistic presentations on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. at Rosch Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Ms. Beglarian, a composer, performer and audio producer based in New York City, along with videographer Matt Petty, created “Lighten Up,” a multimedia music-theater piece inspired by Cleveland Turner and the visionary environment he created in Houston.

The duo of Ms. Neuman, a choreographer, and Mr. Davis, a composer, developed “TOSS,” a dance/soundscape that examines overconsumption and today's throwaway mentality.

The Cathy and Jesse Marion International Fellowship for the Visual and Performing Arts was created to connect several circle organizations which have been generously supported by Fredonia alumna Cathy, ’79, and Jesse Marion. The fellowship is administered by the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Fredonia, with funds administration by the Fredonia College Foundation.

The fellowship is designed to support an artistic journey through which a creative project is developed. Selected fellows demonstrate outstanding achievement and high professional potential in the arts. As a result of the fellowship, connections among the circle members are strengthened with the goal of creating new opportunities for collaborative artistic excellence.

The journey begins at Chautauqua Institution, includes a residency at the Ucross Foundation in Clearmont, Wyo., and concludes with a presentation of the work or work-in-progress on the Fredonia campus. It must include activities at one additional circle member organization: the Alley Theater of Houston, the Alberta College of Art and Design, or the Springboard Schools of Egypt.
