Memorial Service for Kofi B. Genfi set for Sept. 6

A memorial service will be held for Kofi B. Genfi, a SUNY Fredonia student who died in Dunkirk on June 21 in a Lake Erie swimming accident. The service will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. in the Horizon Room, located in the basement level of the Williams Center. All are welcome.

Mr. Genfi was a senior Middle School Childhood Math Education major from Bronx, N.Y. Although he was born in the United States, he spent most of his childhood and adolescence in a small village of Kumasi in Ghana, Africa. In order to receive the type of education that he wanted, Genfi moved back to the U.S. where he was always striving to be the best, earning excellent grades and providing leadership.

At SUNY Fredonia, he was part of the Educational Development Program, the Collegiate-Science and Technology Program and the Math Club. He was also a Resident Assistant in Igoe Hall and worked at Wal-Mart as a management trainee.
