SUNYAC Tournament action begins Tuesday for SUNY Fredonia men’s and women’s basketball teams. The men (13-11, 8-10) enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Geneseo. The women (10-14, 6-12), the tournament’s No. 8 seed, will challenge No. 1 seed Buffalo State. Both teams dropped their regular-season finales Saturday to Oswego.
Cara Pellechia and Christian Pagano were named the Female and Male Athletes of the Year at the annual Freddys Banquet on May 7.
The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.
For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
