Music Education major Dennis Bergevin invited to prestigious music summit

Dennis BergevinDennis Bergevin, a senior, joined eight other double bassists from around the world at WABASS: Institute for the 21st Century Bass Player, a highly selective, week-long assembly held in June in Wabash, Ind.

Bergevin is from Vestel, N.Y.

The Institute is taught as an intensive, one-week summer music camp exclusively for double bass players ages 14 and up, covering the entire spectrum of bass playing from basic techniques to classical, jazz, and orchestral excerpts.

Activities included private lessons with all three teachers, master classes, faculty recital, student recital, guest lecturers. 

Faculty were drawn from the Philadelphia Orchestra, Curtis Institute of Music and Houston Symphony.

Strauss to conduct area concerts

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
