Fredonia's offense came alive in a 4-0 SUNYAC men's soccer home win Friday over Oswego.

Shutout in their previous four games, the Blue Devils scored twice in a span of 34 seconds during the first half and added two more goals in the second half. They improved to 2-8-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the SUNYAC with Cortland coming to town Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons defeated Buffalo State 2-0 on Friday and have blanked their last three opponents.

"We have played that well many times this year," Fredonia head coach P.J. Gondek said, "but we have either not scored or given up soft goals.Today we did neither."

Mohammed Hussein (Buffalo) scored two of the goals -- one in each half -- while Joey Vucic (East Aurora) and Paul Reinis (Webster) had one goal each. Meanwhile, Austin Santor (Chazy) made eight saves to earn the shutout.

With the game still scorless, Hussein scored his second goal of the season on a cross from Ryan Keller (East Aurora) with 9:37 left first half. Vucic then made it 2-0 Fredonia with a blast from the top arc with 9:03 left off an Oswego turnover in midfield. It was Vucic's second goal of the season.

Hussein's second goal of game came in the 53rd minute off a through ball by Josh McIntosh (Williamson, N.Y.) and a cross by Keller. It gave Hussein the temporary team lead in goals, with three, until Reinis scored in the 88th minute -- his third of the season -- off a long through ball into space by Max Prosser (Fairport).

The shutout by Santor, his third of the season, dropped Oswego to 4-6-1 overall and 1-4-0 in the conference. It also enabled the Blue Devils to move within one point of the sixth and last SUNYAC playoff spot with five conference games remaining.
