Panama woman receives student social work honor

Julie A. Nagel, a 2007 graduate of SUNY Fredonia and resident of Panama, N.Y., received the Fredonia Social Work Student of the Year Award from the Western New York division of the National Association of Social Workers.

Peter Robins, NASW division director, presented the award to Mrs. Nagel in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement and performance as a field practicum student and respect she earned from faculty and students. The award is given annually to a social work student enrolled in each college located within the Western New York region of NASW.

Mrs. Nagel compiled a 4.0 grade point average and completed a 500-hour field practicum at Hospice Chautauqua County Inc. She transferred to SUNY Fredonia from Jamestown Community College, where she also had a 4.0 grade point average.
