The annual “Pink the Rink” hockey game is slated for Friday, Feb. 6 in the Steele Hall Arena. It is the ninth year the team has held the “Pink The Rink” game.

Presale tickets will be available at the Athletics and Recreation Department office, located at 120 Dods Hall, at the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Friday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Any remaining tickets will be sold the night of the game, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Steele Hall ticket office located across from the rink entrance. Doors to the rink will also open at 5:30 p.m. Cost of tickets are the same as last year: $7 for adults, $3 for students, and $2 for Fredonia students with a valid ID card.

The Blue Devils will don pink personalized jerseys and pink stockings for their game that night against the Potsdam Bears. Faceoff is 7 p.m. The four on-ice officials will also wear pink and black striped shirts and all four shirts will be raffled off the night of the game.

After the game, each Blue Devil player will present his jersey to the people and families who purchased them and had them personalized with the name of a cancer survivor. The referee shirts will also be awarded to the raffle winners.

Proceeds from the sale of jerseys and gate receipts will be donated to The American Cancer Society to help with its search for a cure to breast cancer.

Jersey sales alone, since the inception of Pink The Rink in 2007, have totalled over $50,000. Gates receipts and sales of pink items brings the total over $60,000.
