The Fredonia women's volleyball team improved to 6-4 as they topped John Carroll, 3-0, at the Bengal Invite held at Buffalo State on Friday. Senior Courtney Poirier (West Seneca/West Seneca West) earned her 1,000-career dig on match point. She is the 15th Blue Devil to reach that mark.

The set scores were 25-15, 25-14, and 25-20. Head coach Geoff Braun was pleased with his teams performance. "We controlled the match right from the start," said Braun. "We kept constant pressure on John Carroll with our serve and they never got going offensively." The Devils collected seven aces.

Kristen Stanek (Hamburg/Orchard Park) led the team with 14 kills, and Kailey Falk (York, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy ) had 11. Hallie Christopher (East Amherst/Clarence) had 31 assists. Rachel Poirier had three service aces.

Poirier needed 16 digs to reach the 1,000-dig milestone, becoming the 15th woman in program history to do so. Freshman Selena Brown (South Ozone Park/Hillcrest) had two of the team's six blocks.
