SUNY Fredonia has named two new professionals to the University Advancement team.
Michael R. Barone has been appointed SUNY Fredonia’s Director of Public Relations. A native of Olean, N.Y., Mr. Barone comes to Fredonia following a 13-year tenure with Travers, Collins & Company, a 50-person marketing communications agency based in Buffalo, N.Y. He most recently served as a vice president within its Investor Relations group, a position he held since 2003. He has earned dozens of awards for his work, including two “Best of Show” honors from the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) at its 2001 and 2004 Excalibur awards competition. He presently serves as President of the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter as well as chair of its sponsorship committee, and has held various other positions on its board since 2004.
Mr. Barone earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication from Cornell University, as well as an M.B.A. from the State University at Buffalo, where he graduated with honors. He has also been an adjunct instructor within SUNY Fredonia’s Department of Communication, serving in the spring of 2002 and the fall of 2003. He lives in Amherst, N.Y., with his wife, Tara, and their two children. 
SUNY Fredonia alumna and graphic designer Bonny Chruscicki has been named the university’s new Communications Designer. Ms. Chruscicki most recently was a graphic designer at Cannon Design of Grand Island, N.Y., and has taught graphic design as an adjunct faculty member in Fredonia’s Department of Visual Arts and New Media since 2001. Ms. Chruscicki’s art direction and production design gained her professional recognition from the Advertising Club of Buffalo as part of her agency work from 2001 through 2005. Her additional experience includes work for Fisher Price, Curbell, the Wynne Creative Group, and Crowley Webb and Associates. 
Ms. Chruscicki earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design with honors from SUNY Fredonia in 1997. She lives in Angola, N.Y., and has two grown children.
