Student composers featured in concert Oct. 18

The Fall Student Composers Concert, to be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall, is the first of four Student Composers Concerts which Ethos New Music Society will hold this year.  The concert will feature pieces from Scott Miller, Jared Yackiw, David Holton, Eric Iannucci, Buddy Griffith, and Daniel Knorr--who are all undergraduates; as well as graduate students Michael Lanci and Matt Ferandino.

The program includes a wide variety of musical genres, including traditional as well as non-traditional. Works include those or acoustic instrument and electronics, and for a large ensemble with electric guitar.

Except for one piece being played by Dr. Tim Hoft, all the works are being played by School of Music students. Admission is free.

Strauss to conduct area concerts

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
