SUNYAC cites 101 Blue Devils for classroom work

Members of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Academic Team and Commissioner List have been announced for the 2016 spring semester, including 101 Fredonia Blue Devils.

Student-athletes from 11 Blue Devil teams were recognized. All-Academic Team members achieved a grade-point average of 3.30 or higher during the last semester. Commissioner List recipients had a GPA of 3.30 or higher for at least three straight semesters.

The breakdowns by team: baseball, 6; men's basketball, 2; women's basketball, 8; women's cheerleading, 14; men's hockey, 11; women's lacrosse, 3; men's track and field, 17; women's track and field, 22; softball, 10; men's swimming and diving, 3; and women's swimming and diving, 6.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.
