Take a break with 'De-stress for Success'

“De-stress for Success,” a series of events, programs and workshops will be hosted by the Counseling Center and various other campus groups. All events are free to students and began on Monday and will conclude Thursday, May 12. The activities are organized to help students find a way to reduce stress in a productive and healthy manner and gain the focus they need to succeed during the end-of-the-semester time.

  • Monday began the series of events, starting with Healthy Bites offered by the Student Health Center. Students are welcome to pick up their free snacks in LoGrasso Hall until Friday, May 13. The Student Health Center will also be offering Relaxation Kits during the duration of the two weeks as well. Also starting on Monday there is a stress-free zone located in the lobby of Reed Library. Students can use the area to take a time-out from their hectic schedules and relax with various stress relieving activities including coloring, crafts and games.
  • A yoga class will be offered on Monday, May 9 in the Dods Hall Gym from 11 a.m. to noon. Mats will be available at the class, but students are also welcome to bring their own.
  • Chalk it Up will be offered on May 9 at the President’s House Driveway, 194 Central Ave. from 3 to 6 p.m. Students can de-stress by drawing with sidewalk chalk.
  • Paws to Relax will be held on Monday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 10 from noon to 1 p.m. in Reed Library. There will be certified therapy dogs for students to pet and play with to get their mind off of studying for a while.
  • Healthy Bites will also be available in the Reed Library from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 10, sponsored by the Student Health Center.
  • Zumba will be offered on Tuesday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Dods Hall Gym. Also offered on May 10 will be the Exam Study Break hosted by Spectrum. There will be free food in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room starting at 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 12 there will be freeze pops and Frisbees in the Reed Library lobby from 11 a.m. to noon.

Reed Library has extended hours to Thursday, May 12 until 2 a.m. There are designated quiet study areas in Reed Library on the first, second and third floor of the Carnahan-Jackson Center as well as the Williams Center room G103C, S204D and the Multipurpose Room.

De-Stress for Success is sponsored by the Counseling Center, Reed Library, Student Affairs, Student Health Center, Residence Life, Campus Life and Spectrum.
