Three Devils crack NCAA Top 100 stat lists

The Fredonia women's volleyball team had three players ranked among the Top 100 nationally in NCAA Division III statistical categories during the 2014 season.

Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East), Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Athena), and Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) are listed in seven different categories in the final NCAA D-III lists.

DiChristopher, Fredonia's First Team All-SUNYAC representative, put up impressive overall statistics all season long. A junior middle blocker, she ranked 90th in the nation among qualifiers in points per set with a 3.95 average as well as 97th in the nation in blocks with 97.

Edinger, a junior setter, led the SUNYAC in total assists and assists per set. Her 1,196 assists ranked 25th nationally and her 9.97 assists per set was 30th in the nation.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
