Throwers account for four personal-bests

Fredonia men had four personal-bests in throwing events, one in jumping, and two in running Sunday during the Nazareth Roc City Classic outdoor track & field meet.

Kyle Brown (Hamburg), Damone Brown (Haverstraw), and Jordan Toland (Lockport) each PR'ed in the hammerthrow. Kyle brown was best of the three with 51.42 meters, Damone Brown was next with 44.10 meters, followed by Toland in 34.99.

Toland also had a PR in the shot put with a toss of 11.89 meters.

Brendan Long (Millbrook) had the two personal-bests: 18.47 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles and 6.13 meters in the long jump. In addition, Ethan Francis (Dunkirk) recorded a personal-best 4:08.48 in the 1,500-meter run.

There were three season-bests in the 800 meters: Merlin Joseph Jr. (Binghamton) in 1:58.05, Bobby Cooper (Macedon, N.Y.) in 1:58.18, and Mitch Loiacano (Lockport) in 2:01.68.

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
