Dave Trabold's (Fairport,/Fairport) goal 1:24 into the first overtime sent the Fredonia men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory and helped the team claim the Blue Devil Classic title on Saturday evening at University Stadium. The win moved the Devils to 4-0 on the season.

Houghton scored the game's first goal just over 12 minutes into the fray. That lead would hold up much of the day.

It wasn't until the 68th minute that the Blue Devils would get on the board. Parker Healy (East Aurora/East Aurora) headed a ball over the Houghton defender and passed to Matt Belardi (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) on the right side. Belardi then passed the ball across the box and Pa Lu (Buffalo/International Prep at Grover Cleveland) drove in the tying goal. Belardi was credited with the assist.

Lu would later assist on Trabold's game winner.

Ty Bentham (Columbus, Ind. / Columbus North) turned in a solid performance in goal. He made six saves and allowed one goal. Jared Crouch had four saves and allowed a pair of goals for the Highlanders.

Fredonia out-shot Houghton 14-10 for the game.

Buffalo State was awarded second place in the weekend tournament after pasting Alfred State, 6-1, on the turf field. Houghton finished third and Alfred State fourth. CORRECTION: After tie-breaking procedures were revisited Sunday, Houghton was awarded second place based on its 2--0 victory over Buffalo State on Friday. Head-to-head is the first tie-breaking criteria. As a result, Ben Lawrence of Houghton was added to the all-tournament team.

Trabold was named the Tournament MVP. He scored a goal in Friday's 5-0 win over Alfred State and now has one goal in each of the team's four games this season. All-Tournament Team winners also included Lu, Healy, and Parker Ross (Grand Island/Grand Island).
