Two SUNY Fredonia Counselors, Dr. Tracy Stenger, Assistant Director, and Dr. Leanna White, Senior Counselor, presente at the American College Counseling Association (ACCA) conference in St. Louis, MO, on Saturday, Oct. 9. Their presentation was entitled "Maximizing Impact and Minimizing Burnout: Evaluation of Outcomes-Based Practice in a University Counseling Center."

Stenger and White were recipients of a $2,000 research grant from ACCA to investigate the usefulness of counseling outcomes measures developed by Dr. Scott Miller, Ph.D. and Dr. Barry Duncan, Psy.D. in a college counseling center setting.

The Outcomes Rating Scale (ORS) and Session Rating Scale (SRS) have been found to be both reliable and valid measurements to assist counselors with monitoring service effectiveness.

“Because these measures have been widely implemented in other counseling settings but not in college counseling centers we are glad to be able to share our experience with other college counselors by reporting on our experience at the October, 2010 American College Counseling Association’s bi-annual conference in St. Louis, Missouri,” said Stenger.
