The Fredonia volleyball team made it all the way to the SUNYAC Championship match before falling to the New Paltz Hawks, 3-0, in the finals on Nov. 9.

The Devils now stand at 23-11. They find out on Monday, Nov. 10, if they will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. However, given their No. 7 ranking in the region, it is an outside chance.

New Paltz (31-5) won by scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-19 and will gain an automatic bid to the NCAA Tourney.

Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) led the Devils with eight kills and Sara Madison (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) had six. Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) had 19 assists.

Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's) had 17 digs and Rein had 16. Jane Garrity (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) had five blocks.

Hokaj and Rein were named to the All-Tournament Team.

"We obviously didn't get the result we were looking for," said head coach Geoff Braun. "... but we learned a lot about preparing ourselves (for the tournament.)"

With no seniors on the roster, the Devils, who also finished second in the regular season, are in position to make a run at the championship again next year.
