Women's tennis continues its winning season

Fredonia women's tennis defeated D'Youville, 9-0, to improve to 8-1 this fall.

Two Blue Devils, junior Olivia Miller (Springwater) and first-year student Sarah Bunk (Sayville), improved to 9-0 in singles, while sophomore Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg) moved to 8-1. The school record for singles wins in a season is 10, set by Chiacchia last season.

Miller continued to add to her school-record career singles total with 24 while Chiacchia, with 18, moved up into a tie for fifth on the all-times singles list.

Taylor Rubens (Fairport), a freshman, won her first collegiate singles match. Junior Adriana Speach (Baldwinsville) and freshman Christy May (Buffalo) were also singles winners.

Miller and Chiacchia, Speach and Bunk, and juniors Mallory Mecca (Derby) and Avril King (Naples, N.Y.) were doubles winners.

The Blue Devils close out their regular season Tuesday at Pitt.-Bradford.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
