Works of almost 70 students to be displayed in Marion Art Gallery
The creativity of Fredonia students will be on display in an exhibition opening March 3 in the Cathy and Jessie Marion Art Gallery at Rockefeller Arts Center.
The “Fredonia Showcase” will feature artwork by 69 students. The exhibition opens on Friday, March 3 with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. The reception, which offers an opportunity to meet the artists and have hors d’oeuvres and beverages, will feature a large-scale, two-sided projection by sophomore Justin Gennaro.
On display through April 9, the “Fredonia Showcase” features works in a variety of mediums: animation, ceramics, drawing, experimental video, graphic design, illustration, metal and mixed media sculpture, painting, photography and printmaking.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
Freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors are included in the “Fredonia Showcase.” Faculty members from the Department of Visual Arts and New Media selected the artwork, which was created in introductory to advanced art courses over the last three semesters.

The Department of Visual Arts and New Media provides a balanced, comprehensive undergraduate program in the practice, theory and history of the visual arts and new media. It offers both majors and elective students an opportunity to experience the arts as an important and enriching facet of a liberal arts education. A unit of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the Department of Visual Arts and New Media is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Michele Bernatz, an art historian and Fredonia alumna, chairs the department.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The gallery is located on the main level of Rockefeller Arts Center.
