Yokopovich receives weekly honors

Fredonia junior midfielder Audrey Yokopovich (Webster) has been named SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week.

In two games last week, Yokopovich continued her stellar defensive play with nine caused turnovers vs. St. John Fisher and four more vs. New Paltz to add to her team-leading total of 42 in 15 games. She also picked up 10 ground balls to lead her team with 44 this season.

She scored five goals last week and had at least one point in 14 of 15 games standing second on the team with 32 goals this season and third with 35 points.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
