Annual Stroke Awareness Walk set for Sept. 7

The Stroke Awareness Walk, now in its 10th year at Fredonia and dedicated to providing education on stroke prevention and introducing services available at the campus’ Henry C. Youngerman Center for Communications Disorders, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m.

Free hearing screenings, educational handouts and informational brochures from the Youngerman Center will be offered to participants and members of the community attending the walk, hosted by the Youngerman Center. Faculty, professional staff and graduate students from the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences will also participate in the event.

The walk begins and ends at the Youngerman Center, located on the first floor of Thompson Hall, and covers just over two miles along Central Avenue. A lunch will be served after the event. There is no entry fee.

The start of the 2024-2025 school year may be several months away, but the Henry C. Youngerman Center Preschool at SUNY Fredonia has begun accepting applications for children ages 3 to 4 for the coming year.
