Brunelle receives award from professional organization

Adjunct Lecturer Aimee Brunelle of the Department of Psychology was selected as the recipient of the 2021 John Sciera Service Award from the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association (NYSATA).

She is Athletic Trainer/District Wellness Coordinator at Colonie Central High School.

The award recognizes members of NYSATA for their service and/or outstanding contributions to the profession of athletic training in New York State. Nominees must have demonstrated dedication, loyalty and service to the profession of athletic training and the NYSATA. Their contributions may have directly or indirectly impacted all members of the NYSATA.

Ms. Brunelle’s contributions to NYSATA span 17 years as a former president, longtime newsletter editor, and currently, Conference & Education committee chair as well as co-chair of the Governmental Affairs committee. She has been teaching multiple sections of Sport Psychology at SUNY Fredonia each year for the past 9 nine years.

The award was named after the long-time head athletic trainer at SUNY Cortland, John Sciera. Mr. Sciera founded NYSATA in 1976 and served as its first president.
