A Letter from Christine Starks, SUNY Fredonia Alumni Association President:
As President of the SUNY Fredonia Alumni Association, I want to extend my sincere thanks to our Alumni Director Angel Clark, the dedicated staff and students, and the many volunteers who made Homecoming Weekend — Oct. 24–26 — a truly memorable Blue Devil celebration.
This year’s Homecoming was a joyful blend of tradition and innovation. We were honored to host our cherished “Golden Alumni” at a special luncheon, and we celebrated the Class of 1975 with a milestone luncheon that brought back wonderful memories and lifelong friendships. These events reminded us of the enduring spirit and legacy of Fredonia graduates.
We also introduced some exciting new experiences that added fresh energy to the weekend. The Wine Tasting event, hosted by the Grape Discovery Center, was a delightful addition that showcased the region’s rich viticulture and fabulous student musicians from Tetrus Effect. Another highlight was the Saturday afternoon social, creatively combining sweethearts and singles, hosted by Alumni Board member Patrick Newell. It was a fun and engaging way to bring alumni together in a relaxed and festive setting. The tailgate at a new location next to the stadium featured the ever-popular beer tent along with lawn games including axe throwing and mini golf. I applaud the scheduling that included events for all ages and tastes. The goody bag included community information from some of our favorite restaurants, tourist spots and new places.
To all who attended — thank you for your enthusiasm and support and look at photos on the website. And to those who couldn’t make it this year, we warmly invite you to return to campus for next year’s Homecoming, scheduled for Oct. 16–18, 2026. It’s never too late to reconnect with classmates, rediscover campus, and make new memories. And remember, we mark the bicentennial of higher education in Fredonia starting in 2026. There's so much to celebrate! We encourage alumni to stay involved throughout the year. Whether it’s attending regional events, mentoring students, or volunteering for the Alumni Association Board, your participation strengthens our community and helps us build a vibrant alumni network. Let’s keep the Fredonia spirit alive — see you in 2026!
