There won’t be any soup served at Empty Bowls due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the annual fundraiser will nevertheless be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, from noon to 3 p.m., to raise money to help feed the hungry in Chautauqua County.

This year’s Empty Bowls will be an outside, bare bones version of the popular fundraiser to be held in the Village of Fredonia east parking lot, behind the Upper Crust Bake House at 27 E. Main St. Each bowl will be marked with a recommended donation amount.

Approximately 15 area potters including faculty, emeriti, Fredonia alumni and community members have donated their creativity, skills and time to make hundreds of bowls. Lake Shore Savings Bank is sponsoring the event, providing funds to cover overhead costs related to the cost of clay and firing.

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation will manage the funds collected by cash, check or credit card. Proceeds will be used to establish a grant program through the Food Bank of WNY that is designed to benefit all food pantries in Chautauqua County.

Potters who are managing the event ask the attending public to practice all of pandemic protocols by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
