Two FREDfocus events – one an in-person and the other offered on Zoom – will be held this week to help students finish the spring semester strong.

“In recognition of National Public Health Week, which is the first week of April, Academic Advising thought it was appropriate to collaborate with the FREDwell Lounge to offer ways to improve health and wellness and provide techniques to students on how to finish the semester strong,” said George Morgan III, the campus’ new Retention and Academic Success coach.

Both events reflect to promotion of continuing mental health and success for students that President Stephen Kolison has conveyed in his weekly campus messages, added Counselor-in-Residence Miranda Nellis.

A FREDfocus resource tabling event offering tips, tricks and connections will be held on Wednesday, April 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. It is a collaboration of Academic Advising with the Learning Center, Reed Library, Counseling Center, Let’s Talk, Student Health Center, food pantry and the FREDwell Lounge

Snacks will be available.

A second event, a FREDfocus virtual event also offering guidance to finish the semester strong while using self-care to live your best life, will be held on Thursday, April 8, from 3 to 4 p.m., in the FREDwell Lounge, located in the second floor of the Williams Center. Discussion topics will include improving health and wellness and accessing campus resources. The event is a joint effort of Academic Advising and the FREDwell Lounge.

Students attending the session will be entered to win an Echo Smartpen.
