Marketing Education Review has published Professor Lei Huang's award-winning pedagogical practices study on AI and ChatGPT in classrooms.

Dr. Huang, of the Department of Business Administration, co-authored the article about the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ChatGPT with human-driven creative thinking for his classes, BUAD 351/HONR 306: Digital Marketing. Dr. Priyanka Singh from SUNY Plattsburgh is a co-author.

The newly published, award-winning teaching strategy was initially recognized at the 2024 Society for Marketing Advances Annual Conference as the top innovation in marketing education.

The practice introduces a hands-on classroom approach on how AI and creativity can co-exist in the classroom in a meaningful, measurable way. Students worked in two groups: one using ChatGPT for marketing tasks, the other using traditional brainstorming. The comparison uncovered valuable differences in creativity, clarity and practical impact.

The takeaway? Each method brings something different to the table. When used together, they promote stronger engagement, deeper analysis and a well-rounded skill set – equipping students to think strategically and work fluently with evolving technologies.
