Grace Doebler, who received a Mus.B. in 2019 and an M.M. in 2020, both in Music Education at Fredonia, presented her research study, "Ukulele Usage in Western New York Classrooms," at the National Music Research and Teacher Education Conference of the National Association for Music Education on Feb. 26.

In her study, Ms. Doebler described perspectives of three different music teachers in Western New York and discussed the ways in which they implement ukulele in diverse settings, representing rural, suburban and urban districts.

The conference provides a national audience for sharing research with other music education teachers and researchers.

Ms. Doebler completed her study to fulfill the requirements for her master’s degree in Music Education under the advisement of her research mentor, School of Music Associate Professor Jill Reese. Doebler is currently teaching instrumental and general music in the Union Free School District in Depew. She is a graduate of Mynderse Academy Senior High School, in the Seneca Falls Central School District.
