Ryan Packard, a junior from Auburn, NY, was named January Resident Assistant of the Month by Residence Life.

A Music Education major, Mr. Packard is a member of the Rockefeller Arts Center's House Management Team, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the Fredonia Viola Society.

“Ryan represents the mission, vision, and values of Residence Life.” – Eisenhower Hall Residence Director Christian Taber

Eisenhower Hall Residence Director Christian Taber, who nominated Packard for the award, noted, “Ryan makes heavy contributions to the Eisenhower community through both passive and active efforts on Fredonia's campus. He has been a key support point for residents and has carved out an essential role within the staff dynamic. Ryan represents the mission, vision, and values of Residence Life.”

Packard’s favorite things about Fredonia are “aside from the campus itself, my favorite thing about Fredonia would probably have to be the people. I'm certain I've made lifelong friends at Fredonia. Some I met before I even enrolled, at Fredonia's Summer Music Festival. Everything that I've become a part of on campus has led me to more connections. I am so thankful to have such a great staff dynamic in Eisenhower Hall where we do just feel like friends. Aside from friends, I also appreciate Fredonia's personnel. Whether it be professors, cleaners, facilities, administrative assistants, your Residence Director, etc... These people I interact with daily and always have a positive contribution to everyone's day.”

Mr. Taber added, “Ryan is also very involved in the School of Music, between his fraternity and his connections through classes and ensembles, and his social capital is strong enough to where we have residents who no longer live in Eisenhower still stopping by to go to programs and support.”

Packard discussed his upcoming plans for the future. “Before leaving, this is my last full academic year on campus for undergrad, so I'm trying to make the most of it every day! Next spring, I'll be off to student teach. After graduation my goals are to start teaching orchestra in public schools, but also to explore any other interests I have! I'm not sure if teaching will be my entire career, but I do think it's a worthwhile beginning that will help me become the person I want to be, while helping others.”
